Yobe Ranked 18th In Transparency, Integrity Index 2024
DAMATURU – Yobe State has made significant strides in promoting transparency and accountability, according to the 2024 Transparency and Integrity Index released by the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Integrity Watch (CeFTIW).
The state ranked 18th out of 36 states in the federation, with a score of 23.67 in Fiscal Transparency.
The Centre’s annual Transparency & Integrity Index aims to promote transparency, monitor public sector expenditure, and strengthen the integrity mechanisms of public institutions. The assessment used data from official websites of state governments and federal MDAs, evaluating institutions’ disclosure of vital information relating to good governance.
Yobe State excelled in several areas, ranking 1st in Local Government Transparency with a score of 61.07, 3rd in Citizens Engagement with a score of 66.67, 7th in Procurement with a score of 75.00, and 6th in Website Integrity with a score of 58.33.

This achievement is attributed to the reforms introduced by the Buni administration, which has demonstrated a commitment to running an open government. The state government’s efforts to promote transparency and accountability are expected to yield positive results for the development of the state.
As noted by Yusuf Ali, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Digital and Strategic Communications, the analysis and ratings by CeFTIW are a testament to Governor Mai Mala Buni’s dedication to transparency and accountability. This recognition is expected to spur the state government to continue improving its transparency and accountability mechanisms for the betterment of the people.
