Yobe Speaker Assures Quick Passage Of 2025 Budget

The Speaker Yobe State House of Assembly, Rt Hon, Chiroma Buba Mashio has assured the readiness of the members towards ensuring accelerated budget process and passage for more developmental projects across the state.

Mashio stated this shortly when Governor Mai Mala presented the 2025 budget at the floor of the house chambers in Damaturu.

The speaker stated that as representative of the electorate, members consider the provision of social infrastructures among other yearnings and aspirations of the people as key in its activities.

He said the house would work towards ensuring the speedy passage of the finance and appropriation bills presented by the governor.

Meanwhile, the Yobe state House of Assembly has commenced deliberations on the 2025 budget with a view to ensuring accelerated considerations as promised by the speaker during the presentation of the bills.

The bills have, as of Friday 1 November, scaled through the second reading on the floor of the House after extensive deliberations by members.

The Majority Leader of the House Hon, Nasiru Hassan Yusuf has while leading a debate on the bills said the procedure is a constitution mandate to the house to scrutinize the budget estimated for recurrent and capital services for the fiscal year with a view to ensuring due process.

Hon Yusuf said the bills, when passed into law, will enable the executive arm of government to provide more dividends of democracy to the people for better development.

He called on members to work, support and contribute to the bills to secure accelerated passage.

The speaker of the House Rt Hon Chiroma Buba Mashio who presided the sitting commended the state Governor Alhaji Mai mala Buni for the timely presentation of the 2025 finance and appropriation bills to the house and assured for the speedy passage.

Mashio then committed the bills to the House committee on finance and appropriation to work on it and report back to the house for further legislative action.

In another development, the house has passed the bill for the establishment of the State Bureau of Statistics.

The house passed the bill into law after the amendment of some parts of the original draft bill, which was presented to it by the executive arm of government. (LEADERSHIP)
