Yobe State Governor Inducted into Society of Neuroscientists of Africa Hall of Fame

MARRAKECH, MOROCCO – Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Nigeria, has been inducted into the Society of Neuroscientists of Africa (SNA) Hall of Fame, becoming the first political leader to receive this honor. The award recognizes his significant commitment to science and research.
The announcement was made by Professor Bello Kawuwa, Yobe State Commissioner for Higher Education, during the SNA’s international conference in Marrakech, Morocco.

Professor Kawuwa presented the award on behalf of the society, which also pledged its support for Yobe State’s Biomedical Research and Training Center as a regional hub for scientific advancement in Africa.

The SNA urged Governor Buni to establish a legally mandated, sustainably funded program for science and research.
Professor Kawuwa highlighted the long-term benefits of such investments, emphasizing their potential to attract global partnerships and improve the lives of current and future generations.
Governor Buni, represented at the conference by Professor Kawuwa and Barrister Ahmed Mustapha Goniri (Chairman, Yobe State University Governing Council), expressed his administration’s unwavering commitment to supporting science, research, and innovation.
He reiterated the government’s focus on programs that directly impact the lives of its citizens, both present and future.
