Yobe to organise Qur’an competition for almajirai
The Yobe State government has announced plans to organise a Qur’anic recitation competition for almajirai (Qur’anic school pupils) to support and encourage their educational and spiritual growth.
Dr Umar Abubakar, Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Arabic and Islamic Education Board, disclosed this to newsmen at the Qur’anic competition of the Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) Yobe.
He said the competition will take place at both local government and state levels, aiming to promote Qur’anic recitation and memorization.

Abubakar emphasised the state’s commitment to enhancing Islamic education across all levels, focusing on both academic and moral development.

He said the competition is part of a broader initiative to encourage Qur’anic education and engage students in their religious practices.
The NTIC’s Qur’an competition featured categories based on Hizb memorisation, with over 300 students participating.
Mr Haseebullah Jogi, the principal of the girls’ section of the school, said the Qur’anic recitation competition was meant to uplift the sanctity of the Holy Qur’an.
