Zamfara Assembly condemns kidnap of Speaker’s parents

The Zamfara State House of Assembly described the abduction of father, step mother and four other family members of Speaker of the House, Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya as worrisome and unfortunate.

This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau in Thursday by the Director General Press and Public Relations, to the house of assembly, Mustafa Jafaru-Kaura.

The Zamfara State Police command has today confirmed the abduction of the Speaker’s parents including his biological father and step mother as well as other four members of his family.

According to the statement, Bandits numbering about 100 yesterday stormed Magarya town in Kanwa District of Zurmi local government and abducted Alhaji Mu’azu Abubakar, the village Head of Magarya who is also the biological father to Speaker of Zamfara state House of Assembly, Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya and five others.

Jafaru-Kaura said the ugly incident which happened around 5-6 pm local time of Wednesday evening.

“The terrorist in large number carrying sophisticated firearms surrounded the palace of the district head firing sporadically on the air and later get access to the gate of the palace and whisked him away with five others that are with him in the palace.

“No live was lost during the incident but the villagers were highly terrified by the incident that forced them to look for safety which also pave way for the terrorists to have a field day.

“This is the third time in the last three months bandits forced themselves to Magarya town and caused serious havoc to the locals by killing innocent people burning foodstuffs and rustling of unspecified number of cattle”, he explained.
