ZAMFARA ASSEMBLY URGES ZAMFARA GOVT TO CONSTRUCT 400- METRES IN ANKA COMMUNITY
The Zamfara State House of Assembly, on Thursday, called on the State Government to construct 400-metre drainage in Anka town, to save the community from effects of flooding in the area.
The lawmaker representing Anka Constituency, Yusuf Muhammad Anka moved the motion on the matter at the Assembly’s Plenary.
Muhammad called on the state government to come to their rescue, regarding fear of the danger of flood disaster in the area.
He noted that if urgent measure was not taken for the construction of drainage and culverts around NRC area in Anka town in this rainy season, it may end up having serious flooding.

He said the Anka community and environs were subjected to untold hardships immediately rainy season started, occasioned by constant flooding that washed away farmlands and causing erosion along Anka-Gummi federal highway.
“The lawmakers made considerations and deliberations, after which they decided to involve the State Government on the issue.
“The house unanimously resolved to call on the state government to urgently award the contract for the construction of a 400 -metres drainage and culverts in Anka town, to save the area from the effect of flooding.
In the same sitting, a bill to provide law for the Establishment and Management of local Government Projects Development Saving Accounts 2021, scaled its first reading.
