ZAMFARA NMA DONATES RELIEF MATERIALS TO GUSAU REMAND HOME

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Zamfara chapter, on Friday, donated food and non food items to Gusau remand home.

Speaking during the presentation of the items the state NMA Chairman, Dr Sanusi Bello represented by his Vice Dr Ibrahim Jibril said the donation was part of activities to mark the 2022 Physicians’ Week in the state.

The theme of the week is “HEALTH CARE DELIVERY SYSTEM AND 2023 DEMOCRATIC TRANSITION, THE TIME to CHANGE THE NARRATIVE”.

“We are marking the 62 physician week all over the country, this is part of our annual activities where we offer charity to the vulnerable groups in the society.

“We came to this facility to visit our children remanded here for some minor offences”, he said.

According to him, the relief materials comprising food and non food items.

“We are donating food items including rice, palm oil, toiletries, cosmetics among others.

Responding while receiving the items, the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry for Social Welfare and Community Development, Dr Habibu Yelwa commended the NMA for the visit, describing it as a welcome development.

“Zamfara government appreciated this visit, as I am happy to tell you Gov. Bello Matawalle is aware of this visit.

“This is the first time to have workers association visiting this home.

“We are hoping to see more of these visit, from stakeholders in order to complement government’s efforts in changing lives of these children”, he explained.

The immediate NMA Chairman in the state, Dr Mannir Bature called on the inmates to take all studies given to them seriously.

He urged the inmates to learn from the experience that brought them to the home and desist from unwanted activities.
