2,017 PDP loyalists defect to APC in Zamfara
2,017 PDP members defect to APC in Kaura-Namoda LGA of Zamfara.
No fewer than 2,017 members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaura Namoda local government area in Zamfara state have defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
That the PDP members announced their defection on Wednesday at Sabongarin-Kaura town in Kaura Namoda local government area.
The PDP members, who belong to three groups including “Kungiyar PDP, ko amutu ko ayi Rai, “Kungurki, Youths Unions Mobilisation Organisation in Support of PDP” and Kungiyar Matasan Kungurki Ward said they decided to move to the APC because they were not satisfied with PDP-led government in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the decampees, one of the group Chairmen, Bala Ayuba, said that: “over 2,017 PDP members under the three groups agree to leave PDP for the APC.
“We decided to defect to APC because we are not satisfied with the current PDP leadership in the state.
“We have not recorded achievements for almost over a year of the PDP-led government in the state.
“The current PDP leadership has not performed well, especially in the areas of addressing security challenges at the grassroots,”Ayuba said.
Also, the PDP Woman leader of the ward, Balkisu Abdullahi, said women in the area decided to join APC due the neglect they suffered from the PDP.
According to her, the PDP-led government in the state has forgotten us, we have not recorded any progress under its leadership.
“We have been supporting PDP for over 16 years but unfortunately, the party has forgotten us when it came in to power.
“On behalf of the entire PDP women members in Kungurki ward, l announce our defection to APC,”Abdullahi said.
APC Chairman in Kaura-Namoda LGA, Alhaji Umaru Isiyaka commended the forsight of former PDP members for joining the APC.
“We are happy with this new development, that thousands of PDP members from Kungurki ward joining our great party today,”Isiyaku said.
He, however, appealed to the APC members in the state to embrace unity, peace for the progress of the the party.
He lauded the state party caretaker Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Liman and the Party leader and former governor of the state, Alhaji Abdul’aziz Yari for his continued support to the party.

Earlier, Alhaji Aminu Dogo, APC Chairman of Kungurki Ward described the decampees as a great asset and achievement to the party.
Dogo assured them that the APC would treat all it’s members in the area equally.
