2024: God promises a memorable congress – Adeboye
…RCCG Annual Congress Opens with Praise and Worship
The 27th Holy Ghost Congress of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), themed Onward Christian Soldiers, commenced on Monday night with an impressive turnout of worshipers. Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer, delivered the opening message, emphasizing praise as a powerful spiritual weapon.
The service, filled with vibrant praise and dance, set the tone for the week-long Congress. The RCCG All Stars, along with the church’s over 2,000-member mass choir, led the congregation in extended worship sessions, thanking God for past blessings and anticipating new ones.
Preaching on Praise as a Weapon of Warfare, Pastor Adeboye highlighted the critical role of praise in achieving spiritual victories.
“Praise is a weapon of warfare. When you praise God for what He has done, He will do more. Without gratitude, future battles may not see divine intervention. Life is warfare—the winner takes it all, while the loser loses it all,” he said.
Pastor Adeboye assured worshippers that praising God creates a foundation for lasting victories:
“If you praise God continually, He will arise for you. Satan, who has defeated many mighty men and women over centuries, will flee when he sees God backing you. Tonight, as we praise, the foundation for your victory in life is being laid.”
In his welcome address, Pastor Adeboye assured the congregation that this year’s Congress would be unforgettable. Reflecting on the challenges of 2024, he gave thanks to God for His preservation and urged participants to embrace their roles as soldiers of Christ.

“This Congress is different, as reflected in the theme, Onward Christian Soldiers. It is both a call and a charge—to those already in the Lord’s army and those ready to join. Are you prepared to march forward with Him leading the way?”
He encouraged attendees to stay attentive to all sessions, pray fervently, and avoid distractions:
“Pay attention to every message. Pray like never before. The Lord has promised a Congress that will propel us forward spiritually, physically, emotionally, and materially. Are you ready to play your part?”
The Holy Ghost Congress began in 1998 with Lekki 98, a historic gathering of over seven million worshipers at Lekki Beach, marked by extraordinary miracles. Since then, the event has grown, moving to the Redemption Camp and evolving into a week-long spiritual experience.
This year’s Congress continues to build on its legacy, offering worshipers a unique opportunity to hear God’s voice, renew their faith, and strengthen their spiritual journey.
