Insecurity: Three repentants bandits surrender Two AK-47 riffles in Zamfara

Three additional surrendered bandits from Bakura Local Government of Zamfara State have surrendered Two AK-47 riffles with 25 ammunitions.

The repentant bandits led by one of the notorious bandits in the state, Amadu Karkare have declared their repentance from banditry before Gov. Bello Matawalle and heads of security agencies in Gusau on Monday.

The Chairman of the State Ulama Consultative Council, Sheik Abubakar Fari administered the oath to the repentant bandits.

Matawalle while commended the repentant bandits for denouncing banditry, kidnapping and other forms of crimes and keying in to the peace process of the state government.

“This is inline with our administration’s policy to ensure lasting peace is achieved in the state.

“We are using kinetic and non kinetic approaches to tackle the challenges.

“We thank God that the measures contribute in providing peaceful coexistence in major parts of the state”, Matawalle said.

He assured his administration’s commitments to sustain the diologue with the repentant bandits as it yielded positive results.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Abubakar Dauran said the repentant bandits were reached through the ongoing peace diologue initiated by the state government.

“We are negotiation with many of them, we expect more of them very soon.
“Government is ready to receive them and support them to improve their livelihood” Dauran said.

The repentant bandits leader, Karkare who spoke on behalf of other bandits sort the forgiveness of the state government and the people of the state.

Karkare promised to reached out more unrepentant bandits in the bush and convince them to accept the peace process.

The event was attended by the traditional rulers and Islamic scholars in the state.
