We won’t impose candidates on people of the state – Gov. Idris
Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, says his administration will not impose any candidate during the forthcoming local government elections in the state.
The Kauran Gwandu disclosed this in Birnin Kebbi on Monday when he addressed stakeholders from Arewa and Dandi Local Government areas who came to congratulate him on the victory of Hon. Rabiu Garba Kamba of APC, House of representatives Member from the area who won last Saturday’s re-run elections .
He said machinery would soon be put in place for the preparation of local Government elections in the state.
“Ours is a government of the people, as such we will not impose any candidate on the humble people of the state.
“Rather, we will tread the most ideal democratic processes and come up with credible candidates.
“We will take all the stakeholders along and enthrone people of proven integrity in the local governments,” Dr Idris vowed.
According to the Governor, the people of the state deserved nothing short of good governance, accountability and honesty because they all sacrificed and contributed in the emergence of his administration.

Dr. Idris acknowledged the sustained fervent prayers and tremendous goodwill of the people of the state to the APC and his administration, saying that Kebbi State is an APC State and will remain so.
He, therefore, promised that he would truly and evenly reciprocate their invaluable gestures by delivering myriad of dividends of democracy to them.
The elated Dr Idris also hugely acknowledged the tripartite victories he has recorded at the Tribunal, Appeal and Supreme Courts.
He said, ” I must really be appreciative to the Almighty Allah for this Divine bliss
“The only way I can show my utmost gratitude to Him and the people of the state is to flood the state with various people-oriented projects.
According to him,his victories were great lessons, saying, “We will transparently use the state’s resources for the common good of all.”
On the rehabilitation of the palaces of traditional rulers which he promised during the campaign period, the governor said,”I will redeem my pledge.
“I will not award any contract for such the projects, rather such works will be executed by the royal fathers themselves through direct labour and supervised by Government officials.
“This will give a sense of belonging to them as untiring and diligent custodians of culture,religion and traditions.”
Governor Idris further explained that his administration would ensure that no section of the state was left behind in the execution of developmental projects.
He also said that his administration would provide free feeding centers across the state and distribute grains to people of the state free of charge during the month of Ramadan Fast.
Speaking earlier, some stakeholders from the areas, Alhaji Lawali Maigari APC Chairman of Dandi Local Government, Alhaji Hussaini Kangiwa, Alhaji Muhammadu Hamidu Jarkuka, Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Sarkin Shikon Kamba expressed gratitude and appreciation to the governor for the tremendous support of the which according to them led to tbe sucessess recorded during the election.
While congratulating the Governor, they also fervently prayed Allah to guide and give the governor more wisdom in steering the affairs of the State.
