Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf, a senior correspondent for Radio France International (RFI) in Hausa language and esteemed journalist, has passed away. Yusuf died on the night of July 3, just hours after returning from Saudi Arabia where he participated in this year’s pilgrimage alongside millions of Muslims. He was part of the media team organized by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
Yusuf had a long-standing career covering the Presidential Villa. In a statement, Radio France International expressed their sorrow: “With complete submission to the Will of Allah, I regret to announce the death of our colleague and one of the pillars of RFI Hausa, Kabir Yusuf, our Abuja correspondent, who few days ago returned from pilgrimage in Makkah. Kabir passed away in Kano last night and will be buried today (July 4). May Allah in His infinite mercies grant this gentleman Aljannah Firdaus!”
President Bola Tinubu also extended his condolences, praying for Yusuf’s soul and offering comfort to his family. In his message, President Tinubu remembered Yusuf’s contributions as the Federal Capital Territory correspondent for The Triumph Newspaper and Radio France Internationale Hausa, noting his dedicated coverage of the State House for many years.
“May Allah forgive all his shortcomings and admit him in the Aljannatul Firdausi,” the President added.
Kabiru Yusuf’s legacy as a dedicated journalist and his impactful work in the media will be remembered.
