Yobe State Government Encourages Agricultural Investment for 2025 Cropping Season: Assures Government Support
Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has urged residents to seize the opportunity presented by the government’s agricultural initiatives to boost production during the upcoming 2025 cropping season.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of 30,000 bags of 10kg rice donated by the Dangote Foundation in Damaturu, Governor Buni highlighted the importance of agriculture in ensuring food security and economic growth.

“We are committed to supporting agricultural development through the provision of modern machinery, improved seeds, pesticides, and insecticides,” the Governor stated. “Our goal is to make farming attractive, lucrative, and profitable for our people.”

Governor Buni further announced that international businesses in Qatar and Morocco have shown interest in purchasing Yobe’s sesame seeds, Gum Arabic, livestock, and other agricultural products. This presents a significant opportunity for economic growth and prosperity in the state.

“We will leverage this interest to empower our farming communities and anyone with an interest in agriculture, supporting the government’s economic recovery program,” he added. “I encourage our youth to explore the vast potential of agriculture. The government will provide special recognition and support with necessary tools to ensure their success and economic independence.”

Governor Buni expressed his gratitude to the Dangote Foundation for their generous donation, which will help vulnerable individuals and families meet their food needs.
He directed the distribution committees at the community and local government levels to prioritize the distribution of rice to the most vulnerable, including Persons Living with Disabilities and victims of recent fire disasters.
