Terrorists Lay Ambush, Kill 5 Police Officer Along Sokoto- Gusau Road

By Ankeli Emmanuel, Sokoto

No fewe than 5 serving Police Officers from Zone 10 have been ambushed and killed by suspected terrorists along Sokoto-Gusau road, DSP Abdullahi Faruk confirmed.

Faruk, who is the
spokesperson of zone 10 said the slain officers corpses have been deposited at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital morgue.

He however promised to provide further details as investigation into the ugly development has commenced

Available information had confirmed that the slain police officers were deployed from Sokoto to Zamfara for a special duty before their vehicle came under heavy gunfire from suspected terrorists while heading to Zamfara State.

The officers boarded a commercial vehicle, Mass Transit bus belonging to Zamfara State Government before the unfortunate incident.

Reacting to the attack, Ibrahim, a relative of Abubakar Hassan, one of the slained officers said the killing should be diligently investigated adding that such attack couldn’t have been possible without informants involvement

Giving reasons for his submission, Malam Ibrahim said, the slained officers boarded a commercial bus (Zamfara State Mass Transit) which ordinarily have hidden their identity, hence they are not using any security labelled vehicle.

“But for the terrorists to have identified their vehicle, lay ambush for it and opened fire on them at closed range, it means they must have been given prior information about the movement of the vehicle and it’s passengers.

“Honestly, the security situation is Nigeria and especially in the North Western States of the country has become very complex. So complex that no one can be trusted any longer. May their sacrifices never go in vain. And may Almighty Allah expose those terrorists, their backers and informants”. Malam Ibrahim prayed.
