Democracy Day: Buni lauds Yobe citizens’ cooperation, resilience
Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has commended citizens in the state for their resilience and cooperation to his administration, describing them as “true pillars of democracy.”
Buni, in a statement by his Director-General Press and Media Affairs, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, stated this in Damaturu on Thursday, in commemoration of the 2025 Democracy Day.
He noted that the people’s support to the policies and programmes of his administration had undoubtedly strengthened democracy in the state.
“The 26 years of uninterrupted democratic rule in Nigeria has given the people a sense of participation and ownership of the government,” Buni said.
The governor observed that the appointments of youths as commissioners, heads of government agencies, special advisers, special assistants and focal persons had enhanced governance in the state.
“It is gratifying that democracy has provided an opportunity for the people to have their voices heard and participate in governance, and to own the government.

He promised to deliver more dividends of democracy to improve the lives of the people, assuring that ongoing projects would be completed for the government to have value for its money.
Buni urged the people to take advantage of the rainy season to embrace agriculture, support security agencies and promote the virtues of peaceful coexistence in the state.
