Yusuf disburses empowerment tools to 1,130 trained Kano youths
Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has disbursed empowerment packages to 1,130 graduates of six entrepreneurship skills institutes, as part of his administration’s agenda for job creation and economic growth.
The Spokesman to the Governor, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, disclosed this in a statement issued in Kano and made available to newsmen on Saturday.

According to Dawakin-Tofa, the beneficiaries included 250 graduates of the Informatics Institute in Kura Local Government Area.
The packages included laptop computers, phone repair kits and N100,000.
Dawakin-Tofa stated that the gesture was meant to equip the beneficiaries to start their own enterprises, become self-reliant and contribute to the state’s economy.
He stated: “Livestock Institute, Bagauda: 140 graduates received bulls, animal feed, veterinary medicines, and N100,000 startup grant.
“Driving Institute, Kumbotso: 250 graduates received driving certificates, support for driver’s licence processing, N200,000 each, and a N15,000 monthly transport allowance.
“Horticulture Institute, Bagauda: 200 graduates received water pumps, wheelbarrows, spraying machines, cutting tools, and N100,000 each.
“Fisheries Institute, Bagauda: 200 graduates received collapsible tanks, fish feed, veterinary medication, juvenile fish, and weighing scales.
“Film Institute, Tiga: 90 graduates received empowerment packages.”
The statement added that the empowerment “is designed to rekindle hope, restore dreams, and unlock the potential of youths to become self-reliant and productive contributors to the state’s economy”.

It explained that the institutes were originally established during former Gov. Rabiu Kwankwaso’s administration but closed by its succeeding administration.
It quoted the governor to have urged the beneficiaries to use the tools and grants wisely.
“Today is not the end, it is the beginning of your entrepreneurial journey,” the governor reportedly said.
The statement also quoted Kwankwaso, who was reportedly represented by Dr Ahmad Ajuji, to have commended the State Government for reviving the institutes.
The Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II, was also said to have praised the governor for offering quality leadership.
