Gov. Buni Advances Bold Information Sector Overhaul as Yobe Delegation Strengthens Global Broadcast Collaboration in Scotland

Governor Mai Mala Buni has once again demonstrated decisive leadership with a strategic international move aimed at transforming Yobe State’s broadcasting institutions into globally competitive platforms capable of driving modern governance communication.

A high-ranking state delegation comprising the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali; the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Hon. Abdullahi Bego; and the Governor’s Honorary Special Adviser on Policy Delivery, Dr. Kole Shettima, is in Glasgow, Scotland, deepening discussions with Clyde Broadcast, a globally recognized leader in broadcast technology and digital media solutions.

Hon. Abdullahi Bego described the engagement as a strategic turning point for the state, aligning with Governor Buni’s broader blueprint to strengthen governance, improve institutional credibility, and elevate Yobe’s voice within the national media space.

“For years, YTV and YBC were forced to operate far below their potential due to obsolete equipment and structural decline. Governor Buni has now drawn a clear policy line: Yobe’s media institutions must rise to meet global digital standards, and this international engagement represents the governor’s determination to achieve exactly that,” Bego stated.

He emphasized that the Scotland mission is not merely a technical inspection but a deliberate effort to reposition the state’s information machinery as a tool of governance, public enlightenment, and strategic communication.

According to Bego, Governor Buni’s vision is anchored on three pillars: modern technology, professional capability, and a more assertive, credible public communication system that can effectively project Yobe’s progress and counter misinformation with authoritative narratives.

“This administration understands that information is power. By modernizing YTV and YBC, Governor Buni is strengthening the state’s ability to communicate its development agenda with clarity, confidence, and global-standard professionalism. What is happening in Scotland is the practical expression of political will,” he added.

He assured citizens that the benefits of the engagement will soon be visible: improved digital delivery, wider transmission reach, enhanced program quality, and a revitalized workforce equipped to meet contemporary broadcasting demands.
