Lawmaker facilitates rehabilitation of 2 Apapa roads

Dr Adesola Adedayo, member representing Apapa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, says the Federal Government will soon commence reconstruction and rehabilitation of two roads in the constituency.

Adedayo disclosed this on Saturday at a meeting with All Progressive Congress (APC) stakeholders and members of his constituency at the Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Secretariat.

He said the Federal Government had concluded plans to commence the reconstruction of Zion Street in Apapa Ward F, to provide easier access to the Primary Health Centre recently renovated in the area.

According to him, the Zion Street reconstruction project is captured in the 2025 budget, while the rehabilitation of Amusu and Akosile Streets in Apapa Ward H and parts of Ward F is captured in the 2026 budget.

Adedayo said the projects were aimed at addressing some of the infrastructure challenges confronting residents and improving mobility within the constituency.

“Zion Street is particularly important because the road provides access to the Primary Health Centre which we recently renovated for the benefit of our people.

“We are working to ensure that the road is reconstructed so that residents can have easier access to the health facility and other parts of the community,” he said.

The lawmaker urged residents of the area and community stakeholders to take ownership of the projects when construction commenced by cooperating with the contractors.

He said such cooperation would facilitate timely and hitch-free completion of the projects.

“I want our people to cooperate with the contractors when work begins.

”These are projects meant for the people, and their cooperation will help ensure timely delivery.

“We want our people to see what the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing to alleviate some of the challenges confronting them,” Adedayo said.

He said the rehabilitation of Amusu and Akosile Streets would also improve connectivity and movement within the affected areas.

“These two infrastructure projects will add value to our communities and go a long way in making mobility easier for residents in that axis of Lagos.

“As representatives, we will continue to identify the needs of our constituents and facilitate interventions that can improve their quality of life,” he said.

Adedayo also called on stakeholders and residents to protect public infrastructure provided through government interventions and ensure that the facilities were properly maintained.

He said effective representation involves not only legislation but also facilitating projects and programmes that addressed the needs of constituents.

Among the stakeholders at the meeting were the Executive Chairman of Apapa-Iganmu LCDA, Jimoh Saliu; Vice-Chairman, Mrs Fadeke Otitonaiye; and APC Apex Leader in Apapa-Iganmu, Alhaji Morufu Gbadamosi, popularly known as Costly.

Others were the APC Chairman in Apapa-Iganmu LCDA, Dr Olabanji Fabiyi; councillors representing Wards A, B and E; party leaders and supporters.

Adedayo, who has represented Apapa Federal Constituency for more than three years, said he had facilitated several interventions in education, healthcare, youth empowerment, water supply and other sectors.

He listed the interventions to include provision of fish farming equipment, fashion-design machines, deep freezers and tricycles for commercial purposes.

He also cited skills training and start-up support, provision of laptops under youth empowerment programmes and upgrading of medical facilities at Primary Health Centres in the constituency.

The lawmaker said medical equipment had also been donated to Amusu Primary Health Centre and Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Metta.

According to him, interventions in education include construction of classrooms, provision of free JAMB forms, textbooks and classroom furniture, as well as repairs of dilapidated school facilities.

He added that solar-powered lights had been provided to improve night-time visibility, while solar-powered boreholes had also been provided to boost access to potable water across the constituency.

Adedayo said he would continue to engage relevant government agencies and stakeholders to attract projects capable of improving infrastructure and the wellbeing of residents of Apapa Federal Constituency.
