Federal University, Kashere, matriculates 3,368 students for 2025/2026 session

Federal University, Kashere (FUK) in Gombe State on Thursday matriculated 3,368 newly admitted students for 2025/2026 session.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Umar Pate, said in his matriculation address in Kashere village of Akko Local Government Area, that 3,308 students were admitted into regular undergraduate programmes.

He added that 60 others enrolled into part-time courses, bringing the total number of matriculating students to 3,368.

Pate, who congratulated the students at the institution’s 14th matriculation ceremony, said their selection was a testament to their academic efforts and determination.

He assured the students of an enabling environment for quality teaching, research and learning.

According to him, the admission cuts across faculties of agriculture, education, humanities, management sciences, social sciences and science, as well as the Centre for Part-Time and Distance Learning Studies.

He revealed that the Faculty of Social Sciences recorded the highest intake with 1,004 students, followed by the Faculty of Science with 920 students, while Management Sciences and Education admitted 528 and 525 students respectively.

He said that a major highlight of the ceremony was the admission of pioneer students into the Prof. Jibril Aminu College of Medical Sciences for the first time in the university’s history.

He said 45 students were admitted into programmes including MBBS, Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology, describing the development as a historic breakthrough for the institution.

He disclosed that the university had received additional approvals to run programmes in Dental Surgery, Nursing and Occupational Therapy, bringing the number of fully accredited medical programmes to seven.

He welcomed the new students and cautioned them against examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime and other vices, stressing that the university has zero tolerance for misconduct.

He urged them to embrace discipline, academic integrity and digital skills to prepare for future leadership roles.

Pate also commended the Federal Government, regulatory agencies, the Gombe State Government, host communities and university staff for their continued support, which he said contributed to the institution’s peaceful academic environment.

Prof. Elias Bogoro, former Executive Secretary of TETFund, announced an endowment of N1 million for best graduating students in the Faculty of Agriculture and Mass Communication, urging the newly admitted students to remain focused and committed to their studies.

On his part, Prof. Ibrahim Garba of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, emphasised the need for students to study hard and desist vices, urging them to be good ambassadors of the
university.
