Yobe SOLID project trains enumerators for WASH assessment in some LGAs.

As part of efforts to improve access to basic services, the Yobe State Solutions for Internally Displaced Persons and Host Communities (SOLID) Project has commenced the training of enumerators for the assessment of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) infrastructure in Damaturu and Gujba Local Government Areas of Yobe State.

Speaking at the opening of the training today in Damaturu, the Project Coordinator, Alhaji Suleiman Dauda stressed the importance of the exercise for effective implementation, noting that credible, accurate and realistic data is critical to guide project planning, prioritization, and investment in water and sanitation services.
In a statement made available to newsmen by the information and communication officer of the Project Ali Musa Yawale, the project coordinator stressed that “Adherence to ethical standards, respect for communities, and strict compliance with the security briefing and field protocols.”
The PC further thanked His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, for his giant development efforts to many displacement-affected communities across the state and explained that the assessment will complement government efforts and provide vital information needed to identify gaps and guide targeted interventions.
Alh. Dauda urged participants to remain focused and actively participate in the training pilot assessment and subsequent field work, especially as they are being equipped with appropriate tools for data generation.

Also, the Director of Technical Services at the Yobe State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA), Alhaji Abubakar Moi Sule, while speaking, described the assessment as germane to the Yobe State Government and the water sector in general.
The Director emphasized that reliable data remains fundamental to sustainable development in the WASH sector and called on the participants to pay rapt attention to the facilitators for the overall benefit of communities across the state.
“The outcome of this assessment would support the state’s drive toward improved access to safe water and sanitation services, ultimately enhancing public health and community well-being in Yobe State.”
