Yobe moves to curb immoral acts in Potiskum — Official
The Yobe Government on Tuesday expressed determination to address rising immoral acts through coordinated action in Potiskum Local Government Area.
Alhaji Idi Gubana, the state deputy governor, made this known at a stakeholders meeting in Potiskum.
Gubana, who described Potiskum as a strategic local government in the state, warned that allowing such acts to persist could have serious moral and social consequences.
He said the government considered the situation urgent and necessary for collective intervention involving relevant stakeholders across the state.
Also speaking, Mr Muhammed Danchuwa, a member of the committee, said that the meeting was convened after a social media video calling on the state authorities and stakeholders to address the problem.
Danchuwa said it was based on this that the deputy governor invited traditional rulers, members of the State House of Assembly, Chief Imams, religious leaders, and security agencies to deliberate on the issue.

He said that the participants extensively discussed the causes and implications of such acts and proposed measures to tackle them effectively.
“The government will provide necessary support to religious leaders, security agencies, and other stakeholders to address the issue and reduce it to the barest minimum,” he said.
Danchuwa stated that stakeholders at the meeting had also pledged their commitment to ensuring that the measures agreed upon were implemented.
He expressed optimism that the results of the intervention would soon be evident, with a significant reduction in immoral acts in the area.
