Food: Agbado Oke-Odo council distributes 360 bags of fertiliser to farmers
Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State on Tuesday, distributed 360 bags of fertilisers to farmers to boost food production.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that the distribution targets members of the Association of All Farmers of Nigeria (AFAN), Agbado/Oke-Odo Chapter.
The Vice Chairman, Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA, Mr Kehinde Shobayo, who represented the Chairman, Mr Abiodun Ejigbadero, said that the gesture showed the administration’s commitment to farmers.
Shobayo urged beneficiaries to use the input judiciously.
He said that agriculture ensured growth and the initiative would boost food sufficiency in the community.
“No country can thrive without farmers, we must support them to guarantee food security and economic prosperity in Agbado/Oke-Odo,” the vice chairman said.
He reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to implement people-oriented initiative, improve livelihoods and strengthen the local economy.
Mrs Titilayo Obayomi, Supervisor for Agriculture and Rural Development to the council said that investing in farmers was key.
“There is no nation without farmers, and no farmer without a nation, we must promote productivity,” Obayomi said.

She said that the intervention underscored the administration’s commitment to boost crop yields and promote sustainable agricultural development across the council.
Also speaking, the Chairman of AFAN, Mr Adewale Okubanjo pledged judicious use of the fertilisers.
“We appreciate this consistent support. Our members will use the fertiliser well to achieve better harvests for Agbado/Oke-Odo.
“The initiative reflects the Ejigbadero administration’s belief that investing in farmers is investing in food security,” Okubanjo said.
Mrs Laide Adeniji, a beneficiary, expressed gratitude, saying that the fertiliser would reduce cost and increase yield.
“We thank the chairman for remembering smallholder farmers at this critical time,” Adeniji said.
Another beneficiary, Mr Sola Ayodele, said that the support came at the right time, and would surely help boost production and ensure food availability in the community.
