CDS pledges stronger Nigeria-Bangladesh defence ties, prioritises training
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has pledged to strengthen Nigeria-Bangladesh defence cooperation, particularly in training and capacity development.
Oluyede made the commitment when the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Nigeria, Mr Miah Kabir, paid a courtesy visit to him at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
This is contained in a statement by the Director, Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. Samaila Uba, on Friday in Abuja.
The CDS said enhanced training programmes and professional exchanges would strengthen the capacity, competence and operational effectiveness of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
He underscored the importance of sustaining and expanding existing areas of defence cooperation between Nigeria and Bangladesh.
Oluyede also commended the Government and people of Bangladesh for their continued goodwill and commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Nigeria.

Earlier, Kabir reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Nigeria, particularly in agriculture, defence and security.
The High Commissioner said stronger institutional and professional ties between the armed forces of both countries would contribute to addressing emerging security challenges and advancing their mutual interests.
Oluyede expressed confidence that continued engagements between both countries would produce concrete outcomes and further consolidate their longstanding bilateral and defence relations.
The CDS said Nigeria remained committed to exploring mutually beneficial opportunities that would strengthen professional cooperation and contribute to enhanced security between both countries.
