FORMER NEAZDP STAFF FROM BORNO & YOBE PAY SOLIDARITY VISIT TO APC GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE, BABA MALAM WALI mni
Former staff of the North-East Arid Zone Development Programme (NEAZDP) from Borno and Yobe States today, Thursday, 3rd September 2026, paid a courtesy and solidarity visit to Alhaji Baba Malam Wali mni, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate for Yobe State.

The delegation was led by the former Deputy Programme Manager of NEAZDP, Alhaji Ali Abacha.
Receiving the delegation, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali mni expressed deep appreciation for the honor and solidarity. He described the visit as both humbling, inspiring and a reunion of colleagues with whom he shared years of service in rural development.
Baba Malam Wali assured the people of Yobe State that he would not disappoint the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to bring his wealth of experience in governance and development to bear in building a stronger, more prosperous Yobe.
“I will build on the solid foundation laid by His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni CON. We will continue from where he stopped and take Yobe to the next level through inclusive governance that carries everybody along urban and rural, young and old,” Baba Malam Wali said.
In his remarks, the leader of the delegation and former Deputy Programme Manager, Alhaji Ali Abacha, said the endorsement of Baba Malam Wali by critical APC stakeholders in Yobe State came as no surprise.
According to him,Baba Malam Wali’s record of brilliance, hard work, integrity and honesty has always set him apart.
“I recall vividly when Baba Malam Wali served as
Field Team Coordinator, and later as Deputy Programme Manager of NEAZDP. During management meetings, his contributions were always objective, practical, and focused on one thing, the welfare of the common man. That was his priority. I believe communities within the NEAZDP catchment areas across Yobe can testify to this,” Alh. Abacha stated. He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant Baba Malam Wali wisdom, strength and victory ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The North-East Arid Zone Development Programme (NEAZDP) was a landmark, community based rural development programme funded by the European Union (EU) and the Federal Government of Nigeria. For many years, NEAZDP worked directly with rural communities in the arid zones of Yobe States to improve livelihoods through agriculture, water supply, feeder roads, health, education, and community empowerment.

The programme was widely regarded as one of the most impactful intervention projects in the North-East, touching thousands of lives at the grassroots. In one of their assessments, the European Union, financiers of the programme, graded NEAZDP as one of the best and most successful rural development projects in Nigeria.
Alhaji Baba Malam Wali mni served the programme meritoriously as Field Team Coordinator, Deputy Programme Manager, and later Programme Manager. His leadership helped deepen NEAZDP’s impact and earned him the respect of colleagues and beneficiaries alike.
Today’s solidarity visit is a testament to the fact that true leadership is remembered. The men and women who worked with Baba Malam Wali in NEAZDP see in him the same dedication, humility and people centered approach that he brought to rural development qualities they believe Yobe State urgently needs in 2027.
As the campaign season gathers momentum, the endorsement and prayers of former NEAZDP staff add another layer of grassroots credibility to the Baba Malam Wali candidacy
