Niger CP presents N35m cheques to families of deceased police personnel
The Commissioner of Police in Niger, Adamu Elleman, on Tuesday presented cheques totalling N35 million to more than 50 families and next-of-kin of deceased police personnel in the state.
The presentation was made under the Police Group Life Assurance Scheme of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Olatunji Disu.Superintendent, Wasiu Abiodun, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, disclosed this in a statement issued in Minna.
Abiodun said the initiative reflected the welfare-driven reforms of the Inspector-General aimed at prioritising the welfare of serving and deceased police personnel and the wellbeing of their families.
While presenting the cheques, Elleman commiserated with the beneficiaries, describing the occasion as a sober moment for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and families who lost their loved ones.

He acknowledged the sacrifices of the deceased personnel and assured their families that their service and ultimate sacrifices would not be forgotten.
Elle an said the financial support was not intended to replace their departed loved ones but to provide some relief and demonstrate the continued care and support of the NPF.
He noted that the gesture by the Inspector-General was a reminder that the beneficiaries remained an integral part of the police family.
The commissioner urged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds judiciously in ways that would positively impact their lives and honour the memory and sacrifices of their departed loved ones.
He prayed for God’s blessings, protection and favour upon the beneficiaries and their families.
Elleman assured them of the continued support of the command and encouraged them to always regard the command as their home.
He wished the beneficiaries safe journeys to their respective destinations.
