Taraba APC contradicts Governor Ishaku on development claims

Callistus Agwaza, Jalingo

The Taraba state chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) on Friday said that the state governor Darius Ishaku’s claims of bringing development to all parts of the state in a trending video is not only total falsehood but a deliberate move to mislead the public.

The state Chairman of the party Mr Ibrahim El-Sudi who disclosed this at a press briefing in Jalingo said that the state is at present the least developed in the entire Northeast region.

El-Sudi said that in the last six years of the Ishaku administration, even the infrastructure put in place by previous administrations have dilapidated drastically for lack of maintenance.

He said that the government’s lack of commitment towards the security of lives and property of the people has made it impossible for investors to come into the state.

“We want to debunk the outrageous claims by the state governor Darius Ishaku in an interview on one of the national TV stations that he has executed projects in all the wards of the state. This is an unfortunate and deliberate move to mislead the public.

“I would have expected the governor to tell the world in that interview about how he would improve the security of the state and attract investors, rather than telling the people that Taraba state is a civil service state and so there is nothing here. We have abundant natural resources and his inability to harness these resources attests to his incompetence. He should revive our moribund companies. If places like Gombe, Borno and others that are ravaged by insurgency are still able to do so much and put in place a few companies, why can’t we do same in Taraba?

“There is sector in the state that can boast of any meaningful Development. Even the renovation at three general hospitals in the state is cosmetic. Students at the state owned University have never had it this bad, with series and series of strikes. There are places in this state that you can not even access for lack of access roads. It is very sad. It is also most unfortunate that rather than bring all the stakeholders together to chat a new course for the state, the governor has chosen to tread the path of openly lying to the whole world on the state of things”

He said that the party was “working hard to heal the wounds of the past and a committee is put in place and is working hard to make sure that the party comes in really strong in the coming election to take over the state and bring succor to the people”.
