NYSC Embark On Environmental Sanitation In Sokoto

The National Youth Service Corp on Saturday flagged off environmental sanitation, and sensitization on health , cleanliness in Sokoto State.
Speaking at the central motor park , Hajia Halima , Sokoto the NYSC Director General Brig Gen Ibrahim Shuaibu represented by the state coordinator Alhaji Muhammad Kamba said NYSC embarked on the exercise as part of it corporate social responsibility to their host communities.
Kamba noted that as the exercise is going on in Sokoto metropolis is also taking
Place in all the 23 local governments of the state except local with security challenges.
He said NYSC last month carried out free health services for the rural dwellers and discovered that most of the diseases treated by corps doctors were related to environmental health issues.

“What we are doing now is to create awareness on environmental sanitation , health and cleanliness because when we had free medical outreach last time we discovered that most health issues are environmental related one he said.
He said having see the important of environmental sanitation, health and personal hygiene hence declared the sensiitation stressing that it is a nation wide exercise.
He maintained that the Corp Members in Sokoto State would carry out the awareness campaign to all the nook and cranny of the state.
The coordinator after flagging off the exercise at the central motor park also visited Sultan palace to supervise the exercise in Sokoto North local government.
Also speaking at the event the chairman of national road transport workers (NURTW) Sokoto State Alhaji Modi.Bodinga represented by assistant secretary general Mooshood Adebunmi said the union was elated for the gesture
He added that the NYSC should.sustain the tempo and also make the exercise a routine.
