Kebbi State House of Assembly passes Violence Against Persons Prohibition Bill.

Kebbi State House ov Assembly has passed the State’s VAPP Act 2021.

The Bill was passed by the State legislators on Wednesday, 30th September,2021.

The VAPP Law safeguards Women, Girls, Vulnerable and Minority groups against Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV).

Another key feature of the law is the promotion of gender equality, enhancement of social inclusion, participation and strengthens social justice for all.

With the passage of the Bill, the good people of Kebbi State, will be protected against all forms of violence , including physical, social, emotional, psychological and sexual violence.

The VAPP Act also provides maximum protection and remedies for victims and punishment for offenders.

The passage of the Bill saw the light of the day because of the consistent and valuable efforts of His Excellency, the Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and his wife, Her Excellency, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu , an untiring and strong advocate for the girl child development and the vulnerables.

It will be recalled that the Bill was sent to the House by Bagudu in January, this year and his wife, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu spearheaded CSOs across the state like IHP, Tallafin Mata and Wrapper to relentlessly campaign for its passage into law.

Recently , Adamawa, Sokoto, Kogi, Bayelsa,Rivers,Taraba,Yobe including Niger, Osun and Imo have passed the VAPP Act into law.
