Adamawa volleyball association chairman donates training jerseys to national team players

Stephen Hasso, Chairman of Adamawa Volleyball Association, on Thursday donated 48 pieces of training jerseys to Nigeria’s male and female team players to the ongoing African Volleyball Championships in Rwanda.

Hasso donated the jerseys in Abuja before the women’s national volleyball team and officials departed for the tournament holding in Kigali till Sept. 20.

The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that the Nigerian male team players and officials had late last week left for the championships’ male competition which began on  Sunday.

Hasso said the jerseys were donated to support the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and the players.

“It is necessary to assist the President and the Federation and equally the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

“This is also to encourage our players, and for them to know that they have people who are backing them.

“I’m happy doing this for the volleyball national teams. I think that sports is not a one-man business and should not be left for the government alone,” the volleyball association chairman said.

Hasso, while speaking on the state of the sport in Adamawa, said he had within a short time transformed it.

“I discovered that volleyball was going down in my state. With the passion I have for the game, I decided to revive the sport in Adamawa.

“I have transformed volleyball in Adamawa and I am inspired by what I am doing. I thank God for this support from my end,” he said.

Earlier, Habu Gumel, President of Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), had urged the players to represent the country well in their matches in Rwanda.

“These are young and talented players, and they will conquer all their opponents in their competitions because we have good players in the country.

“They have passed through rigorous training in camp and they got all the necessary training they required to excel at the competition.

“We will continue to pray and support them, and do everything to make sure that they are comfortable.

“They are well-experienced in the game because they have participated in many championships outside the country,” he said
