Agric devt: Lawmaker hails Yobe gov Buni, appeals to FG on roads

A member of the Yobe state House of Assembly representing Bursari constituency, Zànnah Baba Gana, has commended the Governor Mai Mala Buni for his commitment to agricultural development in the state, urging his consistency to take advantage of the development.

Zannah, who called on the people to take advantage of the good governance as exemplified by Buni, also urged the people to support the chairman of the Council, Lawal Bukar Guba, to succeed.

The lawmaker said this in a statement Thursday in Abuja.

The budget allocation earmarked for the agricultural sector by the state government drew applause from farmers, agricultural stakeholders and the people of Yobe state.

The amount, as contained in the appropriation budget, according to the statement, was aimed at enhancing agricultural development in the 17 local government areas of the state.

Zannah, who pledged the assembly’s support for the governor, said the 8th Assembly had amended laws which included the law establishment of a HISBA Commission, and law for Yobe state Information Technology Development Agency among others.

Sponsored by Yakubu Suleiman, the lawmaker said further that Shehu Sule College of Nursing & Midwife law was also amended for the school to offer a degree programme in Medical, Nursing & Midwifery.

Zannah, who hailed the management of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for adding value in the area of community development in the state, thumbed up the Vice President, Senator Kashim shettima, for his leadership role.

While commiserating with the federal government and the Shehu of Borno on the Maiduguri and Jere flood disasters, he appealed to the President Bola Tinubu-led government to look into the issue of deplorable roads in the region and bridge the infrastructure gaps.

“The deplorable condition of our roads has made them death traps. We appeal to the government at both levels to, as a matter of urgency and public importance, swing into action.

“I also want to appeal to the youth in the state to be good ambassadors of the nation by shunning drugs, listening to their parents and praying for their leaders to deliver the dividends of democracy.”( Blueprint)
