Arewa youth celebrate TETFund boss for double international awards

The Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA) has celebrated the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Architect Sonny Echono, for winning the African Leadership Excellence Award in Educational Development from the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, His Excellency Philip Davis in London.

In a letter obtained by Blueprint in Abuja, Monday, dated August 4, Speaker of AYA, Mohammed Salihu Danlami, used the same breathe to celebrate Echono for winning the 2024 Anthology Visionary Award for Leadership in Transforming Education through Technology in USA.

Danlami said that, having assessed Echono’s achievements and performance, since his appointment as TETFund boss, the Arewa Youth Assembly will confer on him the honorary title of “JAGORAN ILIMIN NAJERIYA”, to further appreciate him for placing Nigeria’s name so high on the global scale of education.

The letter read in part: “The Arewa Youth Assembly congratulates you and the Tetfund under your able leadership for winning the African Leadership Excellence Award in Educational Development from the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, HE Philip Davis in London and 2024 Anthology Visionary Award for Leadership in Transforming Education through Technology in USA.

“The conferment of these awards are testimonies of your gigantic contributions to education and entrepreneurship across Nigeria, Africa and the world, commitment to the delivery of high quality education services and infrastructure, student welfare, academic staff training.

“The awards show your over all academic excellence by promoting research and innovation especially to tertiary education sector in Nigeria, ensuring that all graduates of Nigerian tertiary institutions achieve digital literacy before graduation in accordance with the Renewed Hope agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

“We are very proud of your numerous achievements since you assumed the leadership of Tetfund. As a Youth organisation, we are happy to associate with your esteemed personality because of the transparency, accountability, innovation,initiative and patriotism that your leadership has brought to TETFUND.
