The Nigerian Army has successfully rescued four kidnap victims from a hideout in Ugbolu Forest, Delta State, following a daring operation.
According to a statement released by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Major Emmanuel Onoja, the soldiers acted on “credible intelligence” and launched a raid that led to a fierce gun battle with the kidnappers. The criminals were overpowered, and the victims, who had been held captive for several days, were freed.
In the statement, Major Onoja confirmed that the operation took place on Monday, December 9, 2024, and was carried out by the 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army.
“In a bold and decisive operation, troops of the 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, successfully rescued four kidnap victims during a raid on a kidnappers’ hideout in Ugbolu Forest, Delta State,” the statement said.
The Army’s quick response came after the victims had endured several days of captivity, with the kidnappers demanding significant ransoms for their release.
“Reports indicate that the victims had been held captive in the forest for several days, with the kidnappers demanding significant ransom amounts for their release,” the statement noted.
After their rescue, the victims were given immediate medical attention and later reunited with their families. “The rescued victims received necessary medical attention and support before being reunited with their families,” the statement continued.

The Army also used the opportunity to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. “The Nigerian Army continues to urge members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies promptly.”
In closing, the statement emphasized the Army’s ongoing commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region. “The 63 Brigade remains committed to eliminating all forms of criminality in Delta State and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens,” it concluded.
