BAMA: Zulum distributes N18m, food items to 810 civilian JTF, hunters, vigilantes, Kesh-Kesh volunteer forces
Borno Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has taken further steps to support the volunteers involved in the fight against insurgents in the state. During a visit to Bama, the governor distributed a total of N18 million in cash and bags of food to 810 members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), Hunter’s, vigilantes, and kesh-kesh team.
Addressing the volunteers, Governor Zulum acknowledged their significant contributions in assisting the military forces in combating the insurgency. He conveyed his appreciation for their sacrifices and recognized the risks they undertake in safeguarding the local communities.
As part of the government’s intervention, each of the 810 volunteers received a 25kg bag of rice and maize, which is expected to provide much-needed sustenance for themselves and their families. Additionally, the governor allocated cash amounts to the leadership and members of the groups. The 38 leaders of the four groups each received N50,000, while the remaining 772 members were given N20,000 each.
Governor Zulum emphasized the importance of supporting and recognizing the efforts made by these volunteer groups in maintaining peace and security in Bama and other areas. He acknowledged their immense role as partners to the security agencies in the fight against insurgency.
The governor concluded the meeting by reiterating his commitment to the welfare of security personnel and volunteers, pledging to continue providing support to them as they work tirelessly for the safety and well-being of the people of Borno State.
