Bandits abduct Assistant Controller of Niger State correctional service
Bandits have abducted Abdulrahman Ibrahim Gelele, an Assistant Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) in Niger State.
Gelele, who served in the Niger State command of the service, was kidnapped while traveling along the Minna-Ilorin Road on April 17, 2024.
Initial contact was made by the abductors with both Gelele’s family and the NCS command in Minna, but communication was later cut off, leaving his whereabouts unknown.
In response to the distressing situation, the spokesperson for the Niger State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), Rabiu Mohammed Shuaibu, issued a statement confirming Gelele’s abduction.
“The statement further appealed for prayers from Nigerians for Gelele’s safe release and freedom from captivity”.
This alarming incident adds to the growing concerns about security challenges in the region, with banditry and kidnapping posing significant threats to the safety and well-being of citizens.
