Benue Exco retreat will equip govt officials – Gov Alia
Gov Hyacinth Alia of Benue on Saturday charged his executive council members to apply the knowledge gained during their 2-day retreat on official assignments.
This is contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi.
The retreat is holding in Abuja.
The governor said the exercise was necessitated by the utmost need to properly equip government officials, particularly principal officers of Government House, cabinet members and special advisers with the needed knowledge preparatory to the task ahead.
Alia, who was represented by his deputy, Dr Sam Ode, said the retreat would also enable cabinet members to get abreast of the cardinal aspects of the policy direction of his administration.
He stated that “knowledge gotten here will be useful for you to effectively man your various MDAs and give Benue the service delivery that will add value to governance in the state”.
During the retreat, Mr Rotimi Oladele spoke on: “Engaging leadership, governance, and entrepreneurship for development, peace and sustainability.”

He emphasised the need for the society to move away from literacy to functional education.
Oladele said policymakers and lawmakers should be volunteers of wisdom, expertise and experience who required no “Ghana Must Go” bags of money to do what was required.
He emphasised that for jobs to be created, every sector had something to offer in sports, tourism, oil and gas, culture, solid minerals, entertainment etc.
“We need to re-invent security, peace, harmony and patriotism,” he said.
