Bridging Kebbi political gap, the Bagudu style

History of Kebbi state and Nigeria will remain kind to the immediate past governor of Kebbi state and minister for budget and economic planning, Atiku Abubakar Bagudu.

It is public knowledge that,Bagudu, is among the few governors in Northwest that has not left behind backlog of salaries, pensions and gratuities and even left behind take off funds for incoming government due to his prudence and financial discipline.

Despite pausity of funds then caused by dwindling economy he was able to put up infrastructure within and outside the state which were not celebrated as he managed to promptly pay salaries, pensions and gratuities even when many governors failed to do so.

While, on the saddle Bagudu hardly get commendations for his glaring achievements because he wasn’t a prodigal son he appeared a good manager of funds hence the reason Kebbi is not owing any bank or the federal government making it easy for the new government to build on the foundation he laid in terms of infrastructure.

The minister was a governor for all as he left no record of political victimasation he was opened minded and as well maintained frank and cordial relationship with the opposition even as his sophisticated political strategy tactically killed the opposition in Kebbi state to the joy of people of Kebbi state.

The political gab in the state which Bagudu seeks to bridge is the unification of the ruling APC in the state by extending huge welfare to members of the society regardless of political party,tribe and religion, the political giant is well on course as the robust reception he received at Wara and Yauri was unimaginable.

His known good public relations has redouble because he is known for attending funerals, weddings and religious gathering not minding the political party of the celebrants or the grieved even as governor.

These enviable character traits of the minister will sharpen Kebbi politics to pave way for a clean, holistic and an all inclusive politics one which every member of the society will feel free to exercise his franchise without any fear which will reawaken dead confidence in public psyche, in essence once public confidence is restored an enduring democracy is possible.

Already, within few months as minister his positive impact is being felt by the people of Kebbi whom he left eight years ago as he gradually bridge the gap in Kebbi politics which he hopes to achieve through massive engagements with people from different groups and parties with accompanying huge welfare to extreme needy in the society.
