Commissioner, others monitor Lagos school resumption, conduct roll call
The Lagos State Government has commenced high-level monitoring of public schools to ensure seamless commencement of the 2026/2027 academic session.
The state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Jamiu Alli-Balogun, led the monitoring team to assess preparedness and compliance with resumption directives.
This is contained in a statement issued by Mrs Basirat Lawal, the Director of Public Affairs in the state Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, ministry.
The commissioner visited the Keke Senior High School, Agege.
Alli-Balogun inspected the school environment and interacted with administrators and teachers.
He stressed the importance of punctuality, discipline, effective teaching and learning, and maintenance of safe and conducive environments.
He urged students to remain focused, read ahead, participate actively in classroom activities and build strong academic foundations.
“It is important for you to remain focused, read ahead, engage teachers through questions, participate positively, build strong foundations and prepare yourselves for better futures,” he advised students.
The commissioner encouraged teachers to remain committed to quality education.
He conducted a roll call of teachers at the school to assess attendance, compliance and discipline.

The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, monitored the resumption at Technical and Vocational School, Agidingbi, and Babs Fafunwa Grammar School, Ojodu.
Dokunmu-Adegbite commended teachers and administrators for dedication, urging professionalism and discipline, while reminding them of their responsibility to shape Lagos children well through quality education.
“Keep learning, develop your skills and always give your best toward achieving success,” she said.
She urged parents to wake up to their responsibilities and remain actively involved in their children’s lives, saying that parental support remained important to their development.
Meanwhile, all officers on Grade Level 15 and above in the ministry were deployed across schools to monitor readiness, attendance and commencement of academic activities.
