Covid-19 intervention: FG awards 2 road projects to Kebbi
The Federal Government has awarded two road projects to Kebbi out of five projects proposed under Covid-19 intervention special programme.
The Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA)’s Egineer in charge of the State, Engr. Rilwanu Usman, made this known while briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.
He said,” The federal government, under its covid-19 intervention special programme, has awarded two road projects to Kebbi State out of five projects proposed for the state.
“The covid- 19 intervention by federal government is to make sure that important federal roads are maintained and their serviceability restored, to enhance more economic well being of our citizens.”
Usman added that other three road projects for the State would go through ministerial tenders’ board before their approval will be secured very soon.
“The awarded roads are: Birnin Kebbi – Jega road and Dumberu junction along same Birnin Kebbi – Jega road which is 1.7 kilometer , and it is near completion now.
“Other roads awaiting ministerial tenders’ board approval under the covid- 19 intervention are: Melando- Ngaski- Warra road, Rijau- Ribah- Wasagu road and Argungu – Bui road.
“The roads will be done immediately as soon as the contracts are awarded,” he said.

He also explained that the five projects were selected in view of their economic and agricultural importance to the people of the state.
Usman assured that the whole roads that posed challenges to motorists in the state would be covered under the covid- 19 intervention.
