By Onuminya Ochowechi, Sokoto.

The acting Governor of Sokoto State Alhaji Muhammad Manir Dan’iya said he was full of joy to hear that Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal tested negative to COVID19 .

“It was mixed feelings that I received the sobering news of the self-isolation of our amiable Boss on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020. In addition to the solemness that the news brought it also threw up a weighty temporary challenge- that of having to step into the big shoes of the Governor”.

“In the past few days I felt the heaviness of the responsibility suddenly thrusted upon my shoulder. But, with gratitude to Allah, and; with the support and encouragement of Governor Tambuwal, I spent the past couple of hours going through the calls of duty with little qualms”.

He said despite the fact that the Governor was in self-isolation he enjoyed his tremendous support and encouragement in discharging his duties and running the State seamlessly.

“Of note are the wide scope of stakeholders- the Governor’s entire family, traditional rulers, the Ulama, the Clergy and Politicians of different convictions”.

“Without the support, prayers and encouragement you ceaselessly undertook, there would have been a hiatus and vacuum in the running of the State’s affairs”.
