COVID-19: NAFDAC DONATES SENSITISATION MATERIALS TO ZAMFARA GOVT
The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), on Monday presented sensitization material to Zamfara government as its contribution to the fight against COVID-19 spread in the state.
The Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye presented the materials to the Gov Bello Matawalle in Gusau, on Monday at the launch of COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Campaign and Inauguration of State Joint Committee Against COVID-19 Card Racketeering.
Adeyeye, represented by a senior Staff of the agency, Mr. Bilyaminu Bashir said that public awareness campaign remained one of the veritable mechanism NAFDAC put in place to promote and protect the health of our people.
“Well informed, sensitized and educated citizens are the bedrock of effective regulation.”

The NAFDAC DG said the materials include flyers, posters and other items meant for the COVID-19 mass Vaccination Campaign in the state.
Receiving the materials, Matawalle thanked the NAFDAC DG for the support in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
Matawalle who was represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Nasiru Mu’azu-Magarya announced the appointment of NAFDAC to serve as a member on the state COVID -19 Vaccination Card Racketeering Committee in the state.
He assured NAFDAC of Zamfara government continued partnership to ensure effective food and drugs management in the state.
Speaking on COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Campaign and Inauguration of State Joint Committee Against COVID-19 Card Racketeering, Matawalle said, over 88,000 persons had received the first dose of the vaccine so far.
“More than 56,000 persons had received that second dose of the vaccines so far in Zamfara State,” he added.
He said the State COVID-19 Committee chaired by the Speaker Zamfara State House of Assembly Nasiru Muazu Magariya had also launched a Mass Vaccination Campaign to scale up coverage of the vaccine in the state.
Meanwhile, the state government said while inaugurating the state 14-man Joint Task Force on COVID-19 Vaccination Card Racketeering that it would prosecute anyone caught in the act.
The government said members of joint task force were drawn from relevant MDAs including the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC), the Department of State Services (DSS), the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) among others.
Dr Ismail Tukur, Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care Development Board (PHCDB) and chairman of the task force said the state was targeting 170 persons a day to meet the national target.
The commissioner for Health, Abubakar MC Tsafe called on residents to adhere to the COVID-19 protocols and maintain good sanitation.
He said the COVID-19 mass vaccination campaign had designed a program to include the markets, motor parks, schools and worship centers in all communities across the state.
He said the state government had integrated the COVID-19 Vaccination into other routine immunization programs in the state on his part, Dr Ibrahim Bello, Emir of Gusau, expressed support for the sensitisation campaign across the state to ensure that every eligible person is vaccinated.
Bello said the Emirates in the state would ensure all eligible persons had taken complete doses of the vaccine.
