Cricket: Nigeria bounce back with win over Zimbabwe after Brazil defeat
Nigeria’s senior women’s cricket team, the Female Yellow Greens, recovered strongly from their earlier defeat to Brazil by recording an emphatic victory over the Zimbabwe High Performance Centre (HPC) at the ongoing Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament.
The impressive performance marked a swift return to winning ways for the Nigerian side, as Cricket: Nigeria bounce back with a dominant display to boost their campaign at the tournament.
Nigeria suffered a seven-wicket loss to Brazil in their first match of the day after posting 111 for six in 20 overs at the Gahanga Cricket oval in Kigali, Rwanda.
Brazil successfully chased down the target, reaching 112 for three in 18.2 overs to claim victory with 10 balls to spare.
The Female Yellow Greens, however, responded positively in their second fixture against Zimbabwe HPC, producing a disciplined all-round performance to return to winning ways.
They produced a disciplined bowling display to restrict their opponents to 107 all out in 19 overs.

In the second innings, Nigeria responded confidently with the bat, reaching 108 for three in 17 overs to seal a seven-wicket victory and continue their strong start to the tournament.
The result was particularly significant as it avenged Nigeria’s narrow defeat to the same opposition at the 2025 edition of the tournament.
Captain Favour Eseigbe was awarded Player of the Match for her bowling statistics of three wickets, in four overs while conceding 17 runs.
The mixed results leave Nigeria with two wins and one defeat from three matches, having opened their campaign with a dominant 52-run victory over Malawi on Wednesday.
They face Rwanda on Friday.
The annual Kwibuka tournament, organised by the Rwanda Cricket Association, commemorates the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsis.
