The Minister of Defence, Muhammad Abubakar Badaru, has commended Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, for his outstanding efforts in tackling security challenges and restoring peace across the state.
Speaking to journalists at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, on Thursday after a closed-door meeting with the Governor, Badaru acknowledged the significant progress made in curbing insecurity, particularly in areas previously affected by banditry.
The Minister conveyed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appreciation to the troops in Kebbi State for their bravery and effective operations, especially in diminishing the activities of the Lakurawa bandits.
He noted that the President had sent a message of gratitude to the security forces for their contributions to national security.
“Governor Nasir Idris has reversed the security challenges that once plagued parts of the state. Today, farmers have returned to their farms without fear, and bumper harvests are being recorded,” Badaru stated.
He continued: “Kebbi has remained peaceful under the leadership of Comrade Nasir Idris, who is deeply committed to security matters. I am fully aware of the situation in the state before he assumed office. That’s why I featured him in my press briefing in Abuja, using a video to highlight his administration’s achievements in securing Kebbi.”
Badaru described Governor Idris as a role model for other leaders, emphasizing that collective efforts by stakeholders across the country could bring insecurity to an end.
The Minister also held consultations with the military command at the 1 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Dukku Barracks, Birnin Kebbi, before his meeting with the Governor. He reassured the troops of the Federal Government’s support and commitment to ending banditry.
