DISREGARD SOCIAL MEDIA SPECULATIONS ON 11.5 KM TRUNK ‘A’ FG ROAD PROJECT UNDERTAKEN BY ZAMFARA GOVT

The Zamfara State Ministry of Housing and Urban Development says it has undertaken reconstruction of 11.5 km Sani Abacha Way, Trunk A federal government road in Gusau metropolis considering the needs of its citizens.

This was contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Tuesday, by the  Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Ashiru Muhammad Mafara.

“Attention of the ministry was drawn on some mischievous speculations by social media handlers as regards the ongoing project.

“The state government under Gov Bello Matawalle embarked on the project to address the bad nature of the road especially due to flooding being experienced by citizens of the state during rainy season.

“The project is in line with the present administration’s policy to beautify the state capital”, the PRO said.

“Although, the road is a Trunk A federal road, the state government found it necessary to undertake the reconstruction of the road because of its critical significance as major primary distributor of traffic in Gusau, the state capital.

According to him, taking over the project by the Governor’s instruction, the ministry swung into action by informing the Controller of Federal Ministry of Works in the state and inviting him for a joint meeting with the contractor and state government’s engineers as well as representatives from Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) to discuss on the design of the project”, Ashiru Mafara added.

“The contractor was also invited for another meeting on Dec 4, 2021.

“On Dec., 3, 2021, the ministry went ahead and wrote to the Federal Minister of Works requesting to takeover the road by the state government with another request for the FG to compensate the state to construct a new by-pass to be the new Trunk A federal road and that request is currently being processed at the Federal Ministry of Works.

“Therefore, the ministry is using this medium to call on the general public, especially people of the state to disregard any mischievous reports by social media handlers against the project”, he explained.
