Elections:  PDP Certain To Win Impressively Says Tambuwal

BY ANKELI EMMANUEL, Sokoto

Sokoto state governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has expressed optimism that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is certain to emerge victorious at the ongoing 2023 general elections.

The governor who spoke in an interview shortly after casting his vote at the Government Girls Day Secondary school, Tambuwal around 12;4pm said the turnout of electorate was very impressive.

While expressing concerns that there was reasonable delay in the distributions of  electoral materials to most polling units across the State hence the inability of elections to commence in good time as expected, governor Tambuwal appealed to INEC for an extention of time so as not to disenfranchise eligible voters

On their fears as to whether INEC will not compromise the election, voters who were patiently on queue around 10:40am awaiting distribution of electoral materials at the JNI Nizamiyya Islamiya Primary School, Shinfiri ward polling unit 011 said, they see the delay as deliberate.

Registering their frustrations, the electorate said they were not duly informed about changes on alphabetical orders as been told by the respective presiding officers much later.

“”Now, we are here at the same poling unit were we cast out votes in 2019. After having spent hours on queue, we are been told to look for our names elsewhere on grounds that it is rearranged in alphabetical order.

“”For us, this is done to deliberately disenfranchise many. But we are sending a clear message to the Federal Government that no amount of dribbling will deter us from exercising our civic responsibilities”. They explained.

On further monitoring across the polling units of Tambuwal local government,it was discovered in JNI 011 that the total number in the BVAS showed 794 while 684  voters were captured in the actual hard copy of voter register.

Explaining what actually transpired, one of the presiding officers who spoke on condition  of anonymity said some of the voters have been transferred to another polling units based on INEC efforts to make the process seamless.
