The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested former Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, over allegations of N27 billion fraud.
According to top sources within the commission, Ishaku was arrested on Friday and remains in EFCC detention.
A source revealed that at least 15-count charges have been filed against Ishaku, and he will be arraigned in court soon, as evidence against him has been compiled.
Ishaku, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, served as Taraba State Governor from May 2015 to May 2023.
This is not the first time his administration has faced corruption allegations.
In May 2021, the EFCC arrested three officials who served under his government for allegedly involvement in a N21 billion scam.

The officials included a permanent secretary, a Director of Finance and Account, and a cashier in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Investigations revealed that alleged stolen public funds under Ishaku’s government were withdrawn from state accounts through cheques in tranches of at least N10 million each.
The EFCC’s action is part of its ongoing efforts to tackle corruption and ensure accountability in Nigeria’s public sector.
