The former Governor of Niger State Babangida Aliyu has blamed inconsistent policy implementation of subsequent administration in Nigeria for the lingering conflict between Farmers and Fulani herdmen.

Aliyu stated this on Monday in Sokoto in an interview with newsmen.

According to the former Governor during the time of President Good luck Jonathan the government formulated a policy for the establishment of ranching across the country which he said did not come to fruition.

He further disclosed that seminars were held in different part of the country to sensitized the people but it was later sabotage by those who do not mean well for the country.

He explained that it is expected that this present administration should continue where Jonathan stop to implement the establishment of ranching.

“Let me tell you all over the world whether in Latin American , Europe , Asia they have embraced ranching.as the best practices incurbing Farmers , herders clashes he added.

He also disclosed that as far as criminals have discovered that kidnapping and banditry is lucrative they will continue to take into the act.

” You know when people are kidnapped their relatives or government pay ransoms ,as such this criminals are encouraged to continue and even recruit more people to join them”

Speaking on the recent comment of the acting national publicity secretary of All Progressive Congress (APC) Yekini Nabena that one North West Governor is behind the killing and banditry in the region , Aliyu said the comment is uncharitable.

He averred that it has reached in Nigeria that charlatans are the one speaking for political parties to divert attention of people from burning issues.

” How will you accused the Governor who is the chief security of the state to be behind banditry and killing in his place, this is uncharitable he stated

” The killing and the banditry have been there for some years before he became a governor why are you accusing him that he is one behind it”.

He counseled the governors of affected areas to collaborate with each other if they really want to curb the menace stressing that the primary aim of any government is to protect lives and properties.
