Gov. Buni Charge Perm. Secs. on Service Delivery-Congratulates Buni Scholars On Completion of Studies

Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON COMN, has charged permanent secretaries in the state to justify government confidence and investment in them.

He gave the charge today in Damaturu when representatives of the permanent secretaries paid a thank you visit to the governor over the upward review of their salaries recently approved by the governor.

Gov. Buni explained that the government invested hugely in training of civil servants to fill vacuums created by retiring civil servants to ensure continuity and enhance service delivery.

“You are the role models of the younger civil servants working under you, you should therefore lead by example. The government reviewed your salaries to improve your welfare and the growing responsibilities that accompanied your offices.

“It is said to whom much is given, much is equally expected, you should therefore justify this gesture by putting in your best to serve our people better” Buni said.

Earlier, the state Head of service, Alh. Abdullahi Musa, said the Permanent Secretaries, found it expedient to express their gratitude for the gesture.

“Since 2006, Permanent Secretaries in the state had been on a static salary Structure and all efforts to get it reviewed had not been fruitful until now under your administration.

“Your Excellency, you have made Yobe Permanent Secretaries as role models of other state permanent secretaries, thank you sir” Musa said.

He assured the Permanent Secretaries would justify the gesture “to the fullest of their ability”

to the benefit of our dear state and the people.

In a related development, graduates of Indian Universities sponsored by the state government tagged ‘Buni Scholars’, visited the governor to express their gratitude upon their graduation in various health related and Engineering courses.

Fatima Kolo, spokesperson of the graduates, said they were given a rare opportunity and used it effectively for their individual benefits and the betterment of the state.

“Thank you Your Excellency our Governor for giving us this opportunity at the very beginning of our lives, we assure you of upholding this legacy and to give back to the state” she said.

Responding, the governor congratulated the over 400 graduates, and commended them for being good ambassadors of the state.

“You have done us proud over your successful graduation and for not dragging the name of the state to shame and disgrace.

He urged them to serve the state effectively and efficiently to justify government investment and sponsorship in their studies.
