Governor Kefas Agbu of Taraba State has thrown his support behind Asonya Wunuji Manasseh’s ambitious endeavor to break the Guinness World Record for the longest non-stop reading marathon.

Asonya, a nominee for the Readathon, aims to read continuously for 160 hours over seven consecutive days, surpassing the current record held by a reader from Turkey, who spent 124 hours reading.

Governor Agbu expressed his unwavering support and encouragement for Asonya’s mission during a meeting held in Wukari. He commended Asonya’s dedication to promoting literacy and rejuvenating the reading culture, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in driving socio-economic development through education.

Asonya shared his aspirations of using this platform to ignite a passion for reading among the youth and to advocate for the modernization of the Wukari Zonal library. His noble mission has garnered attention and support from local dignitaries and community leaders.

During the meeting, Chairman of the Wukari Local Government Council, Hon. Agbu Dauda Samaila, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Digital Communication, Hon. Emmanuel Bello, joined Governor Agbu in endorsing Asonya’s endeavor. Their presence underscored the significance of this initiative in fostering education and knowledge dissemination within the region.

Governor Agbu emphasized the importance of initiatives like Asonya’s Readathon in effecting positive change and driving socio-economic development. He pledged the government’s support for Asonya’s mission and encouraged other stakeholders to rally behind this noble cause.

As Asonya Wunuji Manasseh embarks on his challenging journey to set a new world record, the collective support from the local government and the governor’s office serves as a beacon of encouragement for him and a testament to the power of community-driven initiatives in promoting literacy and education.
