Gov. Sule felicitates with Lafia LG Chair on Election as ALGON President

Gov. Andullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has felicitated with Aminu Muazu-Maifata, Chairman of Lafia Local Government Area (LGA) on his emergence as the President of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON).

This is contained in a statement signed by Ibrahim Addra, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Lafia.

The CPS said that the governor described the elevation as well deserved and a classical case of ‘whom the cap fits’.

Muazu-Maifata is currently serving his second term as the Chairman of Lafia LGA as well as the Nasarawa State ALGON Chairman.

The statement added that the humility, calm disposition, hard work and unwavering loyalty of Muazu-Maifata to the state and the All Progressives Congress (APC) had paid him and called on others to emulate him.

The governor believed that the ALGON President would bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new position to r direct it for the benefit of their members.

He said the third tier of government was critical and worthy partners in the quest for rapid development of the country.

“As an ambassador of the state in whom we are pleased, I wish you a successful tenure and an assurance of my support and that of the government of the state,” he added.

Sule in the statement therefore, prayed God to grant the ALGON President more wisdom and good health to pilot the affairs of the association.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Muazu-Maifata took over from Kolade Alabi, who presided over the affairs of the association from April 2019 to March, 2024.

Until his election, Muazu-Maifata served at the National Executive Council, (NEC) of ALGON as National Treasurer and National Deputy President respectively.

He holds a BSc and Master’s degrees in Economics from the University of Jos and Nasarawa State University.

He was also a lecturer at the Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia between 2003 and 2018 and served as Special Adviser on Solid Mineral Development to former governor Umaru Al-Makura from 2017 to 2018. (NAN).
