Gov Sule tasks media professionals on developmental journalism 

Gov. Abdullahi Sule, of Nasarawa State has called on media professionals to promote developmental journalism.

The governor stated this on Wednesday in Lafia at a dinner with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Heads of media organisations at the Government House.

According to the governor, journalists are the conscience of the society and the people most times believe in what they read or hear from media platforms.

He noted  that the contributions of the media professionals to the development of all societies cannot be undermined.

The governor maintained that his administration had within the last four years impacted the lives of the people across the state through various developmental projects, which the media reported adequately.

He also sought for more collaboration with the media as the administration prepares to consolidate on its achievement with the renewal of mandate for another four years.

He charged journalists to investigate and report on  projects – completed and ongoing for the people of the state to better appreciate the impact of government on their well-being.

“My government is ready to partner with the press so that you will understand the direction of the government and appreciate what we have been doing in the last four years,” the governor added.

He also commended Journalists for the adequate coverage of the just concluded general elections in the state.

He, therefore, expressed gratitude to the people for renewing his mandate for another four years and dedicated his victory to God.

The governor reassure the NUJ of his commitment to fulfilling the promise made to the union about the upgrade of the Press Centre as well as the provision of a vehicle to the union.

Earlier, Mr Salihu Mohammed-Alkali, Chairman, NUJ, Nasarawa State Council, congratulated the governor on his victory at the poll.

Alkali said that journalists would continue to partner the government and other stakeholders towards the development of the state.
